لقي 822 شخصا حتفهم وأصيب 672 آخرون في زلزال عنيف ضرب المغرب الليلة الماضية متسببا في خسائر وأضرار جسيمة.

ويقع مركز الزلزال في إقليم الحوز جنوب غربي مدينة مراكش السياحية على بعد 320 كيلومترا جنوب العاصمة الرباط، ووقع بعيد الساعة 23:00 بالتوقيت المحلي (22:11 بتوقيت غرينتش).

وبينما ذكر المعهد الوطني للجيوفيزياء في المغرب أن الزلزال وقع بمنطقة‭‭ ‬‬إيغيل‭‭ ‬‬في جبال الأطلس الكبير بقوة 7.2 درجات على مقياس ريختر قدرت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأميركية قوة الزلزال بنحو 6.8 درجات، مشيرة إلى أنه وقع على عمق 18.5 كيلومترا.

وقالت وزارة الداخلية المغربية في بيان لها إن الضحايا سقطوا بأقاليم وعمالات الحوز ومراكش وورزازات وأزيلال وشيشاوة وتارودانت، وسط توقعات بارتفاع العدد.
